Well blow me down with a feather.

The jumpsuit trend. Not one I ever considered myself…considering. BUT if I were to do so [which face it I'm not but you know, for the sake of the blog and what not] it would be this one.

*sigh*

Spot the Difference

Wittner’s thought process:
“Let’s see how similar we can make our shoes to the top designers without getting sued!”

This isn’t actually the one I was looking for, though I acutally quite like these. They’ve knocked off Chloe [I'm unsure about those] and well, I recognise them as Topshop not sure of the original origin LOL, how sad. I’ll get back to you. Moral of this story though; Pat Fields speaks, we listen.

And the movies not even out yet.

songs for… monday?

Close enough is good enough people. Yesterday was a blur of nothingness, including the So You Think You Can Dance Australia final in which Jack won [YAY!] and Rhys wore a black blazer covered entirely in sequins!!! Can you say wow?! I can. Wow.

Moving to New York - The Wombats
Love Song - Sara Bareilles [two weeks in a row ooo yeah, I just love to sing along to it]
Four Minutes - Madonna, JT and Timbaland [been into this for a little while but still deserves a mention]
Prescilla - Bat for Lashes
What If - Cog
********************************************************************************************
You may or may not remember a post from a while ago about a white blazer I found and fell in love with but didn’t buy due to sheer impracticality. Guess What!!! I was in that shop today, Temt, and there it was, on the last chance rack. One left. Odds it would be in my size? Pretty much Zero. Guess What!!! It was my size. SO despite my extreme poverty I bought it didn’t I. I’m waiting for my sister to come home and berate me as to its ridiculousness. And then ask if she can borrow it. Haha. Super excited. I even just finished reinforcing the buttons, something I always say I’ll do but never actually end up doing.
In this photo:

Was a bit challenging getting the lighting to work cause there’s clearly a large window not far away but I didn’t want to use artificial light and so heres what your getting. I’m in love with this jacket and the possibilities it brings. I may wear it this friday night, I’m going to see my alma maters musical. Or if I go out thursday, but we all know I’ll just end up taking it off. Will keep you posted. Maybe. I’m pretty sure my track record for keeping you posted when I say that is pretty shocking awful.
*********************************************************************************************
Browsing through a few shops today, Temt, Sportsgirl, a few shoe shops, I find myself to be intrigued by the ‘trends’ I’m seeing. While having surprisingly few strongly negative reactions to any, I’m wholly uninspired. The western shirts seem to already be on their way out, purely due to over-exposure I’m sure so thats over. I did see some grossly embellished boots which made me want to throw up a little in my mouth but even Temt, disposable fashions head quarters, had a surprising number of OK items. Not stuff I’d shell out the big bucks for, but not stuff that you’ll wear twice and then forget about. Quite bizarre. The white jacket shown above is an excellent example. It’s a simple white blazer that will last several seasons… though it’ll probably wear out before I’m sick of it but at the sweet price of $19.95 thats a price I’m willing to pay for less-than-great quality couture. Literally. Ha.
So some shopping tips for yall, if your looking for some comfy cheap knits and tights head on over to Temt. Looking for somewhat overpriced [when you're a starving uni student] but nicer more individual stuff, check out Sportsgirl.
Nice to meet you anyway, thanks to the 4 people who visited on saturday!

Never ever ever ever, wear ‘Mom’ Jeans. And it’s Mum btw, bloody Americans.

This is not, was not, and will never be, ok. I don’t care who wears them, do you hear that Cory Kennedy? DO YOU?

 ’Nuff said.

Lust Have or Must Have?

Must Have:

Boots from :O Kmart. $34.95 [aussi dollars ppl] and so on trend! A kinda weird height but I’ll go with it, theyll work with jeans and tights and theyre so cheap, I know I could probs find ones I love more for a LOT more money but did I mention I’m saving for a skiing trip in New Zealand?! Yee Haw.

Lust Have:

A jacket like this one worn by Fashion Toast*, this one is Forever 21 a brand I’ve only ever seen in the blogosphere. Also would like for this type of jacket to miraculously suit me. Would be nice. Thats why its a lust, not a must. *tear*. However there IS a cropped jacket by MinkPink I’ve had my eye on…

Or this one, again Fashion Toast, from Nordstrom ages ago. [read: another brand I've never seen in aus and am very sad about]

This whole sock trend, one I shall try, though perhaps peeking out the top of boots or with jeans and flats due to me seldom wearing high heels.

I WIsh…

…life was like a Stevie Wonder song. But apart from that… I would like your opinion… just realised this is a really pointless post. But anyway. Scooter S/S 08 have arrived instore and I’m in love. They have these little lace up brogues that come in black/black patent leather or white/black patent. The all black is much less ka-pow and much less cool, though still the bomb. Scooter, for some bizarre reason don’t display their collection online [what the?] but I visited my old friend Google and came up with this:

These are mens shoes, as brogues are want to be, though they’re very big now for women too, the scooter ones were less solid shoes, completely flat the sole was thin and flexible. I’m also fairly sure the laces white as well. The all black are perhaps safer and the two tones are almost… i think the word is tacky looking. You know how shoes from Scooter can look. Also RRP for $109.95 so I think I’ll think about it for a bit, see if its one of those trends people start wearing cause they think they should or whether it can withstand the masses.

On another note, has anyone checked out the new line in Sportsgirl?! As is to be expected with such a store, some of it is fab, and some of its NOT. The 70s western style shirt trend is alive and well here, but again I’ll wait to see if it shows up on every second 16 year old cause I’d hate to buy one and never be able to wear it again. Undecided However, if I see anyone wearing that faux fur vest I may die. And not from happiness. *Shudder*

Alrighty well, on this cold and rainy day [did I mention I live in Melbourne, Australia?], I shall be off to do something…else. I cannot believe how cold it is, we have another whole month of summer and on my way home this morning I used the heater in my car FOR THE FIRST TIME. EVER. I’ve only had my license for just under a month so its not really surprising but still. A milestone.

I really am going now.

Don’t Fall Over.

Two posts in one week, trust me, you’re not as shocked as I am. Again extremely tired, so don’t expect any blogging genius, do expect spelling/grammar mistakes.

New favourite nail polish, pity it’s not mine. Bonus it’s my sisters and she’s in New York. Woo hew! It’s this awesome orange with a pearl finish and just the right amount of pink in it, usually I’m a super shiny solid finish kinda girl but I’m slowly being converted. A make-up shop has started popping up all around Melbourne, don’t know if its anywhere else, its in the same sort of family of MAC or Napoleon but slightly cheaper. Cha ching!! I also have the navy and the dark purple which is sweet as pie! The other products there are good too, the eyeshadows feel really nice and are easy to use, I also recommend the bronzer.

IN THE ORIGINAL POST I FORGOT TO TELL YOU THE NAME OF THE MAKE UP BRAND. I’M AN IDIOT. IT’S INGLOT. BAD NAME, GREAT PRODUCT.

Talking about nail polish reminds me of a recent magazine I read. Nail polish trends. Sorry, what? Its a coloured paint that goes on the end of your fingers that you can change as often as you change your underwear. Who cares what colour it is!!! The colour of ‘07 was of course, black, Chanel’s Black Satin sold out everywhere etc etc etc. Personally I refuse to spend $50 on a nail polish. The colour of ‘08 is apparently navy though I’ve been wearing this for awhile cause you know I’m like, so high fashion! People need to find something better to trend predict about cause if someone wears fluro yellow nail polish, chances are they won’t be wearing it tomorrow. And they’re probably a douche but thats a whole other kettle of fish.

If its a good colour and it ain’t chipped, wear whatever the hell you want today, cause you can always change it tomorrow. [And not many people will remember what it was yesterday]

FYI

So I don’t know if you all got the memo but silk scarves are back in a biiiiig way. Whether its guys wearing them as ties or girls getting in tough with their inner flight attendant, scarves are everywhere.

As someone who has been known to wear them as a belt, I’m currently lusting after the Easton Pearson belt buckle designed to be attached to a scarf. GENIUS. Unfortunately, I’m not rich enough, so a knot will have to suffice for me. My favourite scarf is a genuine 70s one I dug out of my mums wardrobe [the spread out one in the photo below], if you decide to try this out ask your mum for a nearby source, not to mention cheap. Op shops often have heaps though check the seams and beware of polyester! Not that its bad, just not as good as silk :).
I also enjoy wearing them in my hair, not as a headband because thats just sooo done…ignore that I’m just bitter because it doesn’t suit my face shape. But, I like it rapped around a bun. The prerequisites for this style: an extremely compressable scarf, I personally like square ones. Also a sizable but loose bun, not loosely tied but loosely…bunned if you get me. Then you fold the scarf into triangle and roll/fold it up loosely to tie it. The key to this is that it has to be messy and though it may take you a few ties to get it right, it shouldn’t look like it.
My sister has decided, rather brashly but thats my sister, that she is now a scarf collector, and considering shes only been wearing them for 6 months or a bit longer, her collection is admirable and partly pictured below. Not one to ruin her perfectly coiffed hair with a scarf, she wears them in the flight attendant style but usually with dresses etc [my point being she doesn't look anything like a flight attendant].

A potentially tricky trend thats certainly not for everyone, I find they bring a sophistication to an outfit, provided they look like they belong. Be warned, wearing a head scarf to cover your hair is really only possible with short hair, if you leave the lengths of your hair hanging down you will look like your from That 70’s Show. If you have slim wrists, tie one round your wrist [they do bulk up the arm, I have big hands and not small wrists so this doesnt really work for me], then send me a photo so I can live vicariously through you. However, the easiest way to do scarves is to tie one round the strap of your bag. A vibrant scarf on a tan bag, white with black, contrasting patterns, always looks chic and enables you to show off your fab scarves without any effort!
