zzzzzzzzzzzz

Crazy busy, in a good way, cameras been playing up so outfit posts are somewhat mia but my brain is mia atm so thats probs for the best.

FASHION/LIFE ARITHMETIC:

sick+always tired+going out anyway = extremely tired & still sick

songs for sunday: cause you know, rumour has it its sunday. Though not for much longer. You know, theres something about being tired that makes me disinclined to use capital letters. Interesting, and completely irrational. Flight of the Conchords is over and I’m not watching the moto gp. I sort of wish I wasn’t.

Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore…
I got distracted. my bad.

london still - the waifs

the soloist in the living room - cold war kids

anything by the kooks. I’m commiserating the fact that their first ever melbourne show sold out in 5 minutes.

mercy - duffy

the longest road - morgan page

blue shoes.

Not suede though. I know you’re as shattered as I am. Not bad for $15 though ey, they are actually booties with press studs all the way up the side so you can fold down the tops to reveal the black and white pattern of the lining. :O. I did it the other day but it was the day I was running late so didn’t take pics. My bad. I have outfit pics with these shoes but I really can’t be bothered resizing them to put up here right now, maybe after I come back. I really need to learn to shut up in these don’t I. I will try. Next time.

Violet Hill - Coldplay
Viva La Vida - Coldplay

Oddly bored on my last night in melbourne, didn’t want to go out when I’m leaving at about 6am tomorrow. Got a sudoku book today from work so I am armed with good music and entertainment. Knitting and books already packed. Sorted. And its no longer a skiing holiday, it’s just a holiday during which I may ski a little. If I’m lucky. Little bit sad, but still exciting.
Nice to meet you anyway.

11:10pm

And I’m considering bed. Did I mention I got up at 11:50am today? Yeah. Almost 12 hours sleep. The night before was 15 or so hours. I’m almost sure theres something wrong with me.

I’m currently participating in one of the most painful and drawn out msn conversations EVER. It’s my own fault, I started it, but she’s was in the same group at school and she’s at my uni so I see her occasionally and eugh. Why must it be so HARD. So I know the people your friends with at school aren’t gonna be your friends for life usually but its so strained! Just cause she’s not my best friend doesn’t mean it needs to be this difficult. She never was my best friend either so it really shouldn’t be awkward or anything.

I’ve noticed that I’m struggling to keep up with my best friends from school though, one moved away to uni which explains a lot but we’re going skiing together soon and all will be well. The other one though, whenever I see her fleetingly these days it seems to consist of me looking at her incredulously as she describes some situation with her *insert important person here*. Whether its friends, boyfriend, family member, whatever, she still deals with things the same as she did a year or two ago. The girls almost 19 you’d think she’d have grown up a bit by now but apparently not. It becomes increasingly hard to give her a pep talk about how she shouldn’t make things bigger than they are when I’ve given her the same talk hundreds of times and its yet to make the blind bit of difference!

Ok so now that you’ve learnt more than you ever needed to know about my best friend and I…

songs for sunday

my favourite game - the cardigans

american boy - estelle ft. kanye west

whistle for the choir - the fratellis

i will possess your heart - death cab for cutie

slow dancing in a burning room - john mayer

“I’m just an ass, in the crack, of humanity.”

Spicy yellow duck curry with rice in a roti wrap, followed by bread and butter pudding with raspberries, made with coconut bread. What more could you want for dinner? Ask my stomach and it’ll tell you, not much. Really, I don’t think anything else would fit.

God that made me sound fat.
******************************************************************************************
GUESS WHAT! Today, I really liked my outfit, and I mean A LOT. Which is something of a novelty these days. But did I take a piccy for yall? Nope. I think the moral of the story is, if I don’t do so before I leave the house, it’s just never going to happen. Today involved a thrifted cream skirt I just rediscovered, it has pockets(!!!) teamed with black and navy and wow, I’m getting excited just thinking about it. It was so good, I may recreate it in the near future and I PROMISE* I’ll document it for you if I do.
******************************************************************************************
songs for sunday
Pick Me Up - Pete Murray [new single finally, there's an album to match!]
Ride Bikes With You - The Moldy Peaches [title is quote from this song. love it.]
The Doldrums - Josh Pyke [still not over it]
Rilo Kiley - Silver Lining
Heal Me - Lior
* ‘PROMISE’ is far more concrete than ‘promise’ seems to be I PROMISE

sunday bloody sunday

I’ve actually done some of the things I said I would today which is amazing. Still an overall very unproductive day though. Oh well. I would apologise for the lack of posts recently but you weren’t expecting much better were you. No.

La di daaaa. I’m so uninspired today. My apologies to the Justin Heazlewood’s of the blogosphere.
**********************************************************************************************
songs for sunday
The Doldrums - Josh Pyke
Morningside - Sara Bareilles
Sleep all Day - Jason Mraz [SO relevant to my weekends. *sigh*]
Time To Pretend - MGMT [ aka the Managment]
To Much To Do - Sparkadia
Be Your Own Pet - The Kelly Affair
I’m going to leave it there because I think saying nothing is preferable to saying a lot but saying nothing in the process.
Nice to meet you anyway though.

oh how I love thee

gg. * Tis sad I know, but what can I do, I’m hooked! I downloaded the two episodes that have shown in America and it was really quite thrilling. Most memorable fashion moment; blair in a yellow coat, serena in red [leather of course] and orange fingerless gloves then chuck walks in in, yes, orange. This particular shade of orange was a little too far in the fluro direction for me but I’ll go with if only for the sartorial pleasure derived from the first three colours on the rainbow. *sigh*

Though on their first day back B wore a purple concoction which made her look, well, a little bit… shall we say rounder than she is? Random! Poor choice.
They’re really committed to Chuck new look aren’t they, I’m pretty sure I saw almost-dayglo yellow pants. With royal purple on top. Wowza. Not bad just, wow.
Oh and Vanessa, digging the mustard dress with the bow at the neck and that shrunken leather jacket! So… fetch! [NOTE: the actress that plays Vanessa, anyone see her on What About Brian?! Loved that show, but then they cancelled it. Sad.]
* gg = gossip girls. though it could [and often does in my world] mean gilmore girls. be aware.
********************************************************************************************
It’s 11:53 pm and when I got up today I had 1450 words left to write for the essays I have due on monday. How many do I have now do you ask? I’d say about 1460 actually. I’m that skilled, I went backwards. Referencing is a biatch incase ya’ll didn’t know that. 11:59. I could do songs for sunday in a couple of minutes but I’m pretty sure I actually haven’t got any new music this week which is A NOVELTY to say the least. I’m always getting new music. Weird.
I’m writing a bit of my essay, it’s pretty taxing lol.
********************************************************************************************
So your getting old music. Doesn’t mean its bad though.
Memories and Dust - Josh Pyke
Anyone Else But You - The Moldy Peaches [on the Juno soundtrack, still haven't seen that film]
Forever Song - Josh Pyke
Hearts A Mess - Gotye [my most played song on iTunes, love him so much!!! Real name? Wally de Backer. No shit.]
I Hate Camera - The Bird and the Bee
Little Miss Pipedream - The Wombats

songs for… monday?

Close enough is good enough people. Yesterday was a blur of nothingness, including the So You Think You Can Dance Australia final in which Jack won [YAY!] and Rhys wore a black blazer covered entirely in sequins!!! Can you say wow?! I can. Wow.

Moving to New York - The Wombats
Love Song - Sara Bareilles [two weeks in a row ooo yeah, I just love to sing along to it]
Four Minutes - Madonna, JT and Timbaland [been into this for a little while but still deserves a mention]
Prescilla - Bat for Lashes
What If - Cog
********************************************************************************************
You may or may not remember a post from a while ago about a white blazer I found and fell in love with but didn’t buy due to sheer impracticality. Guess What!!! I was in that shop today, Temt, and there it was, on the last chance rack. One left. Odds it would be in my size? Pretty much Zero. Guess What!!! It was my size. SO despite my extreme poverty I bought it didn’t I. I’m waiting for my sister to come home and berate me as to its ridiculousness. And then ask if she can borrow it. Haha. Super excited. I even just finished reinforcing the buttons, something I always say I’ll do but never actually end up doing.
In this photo:
white blazer from Temt
white tee from sportsgirl
purple tank by country road
scarf by just jeans
vintage belt
jeans from seduce
Was a bit challenging getting the lighting to work cause there’s clearly a large window not far away but I didn’t want to use artificial light and so heres what your getting. I’m in love with this jacket and the possibilities it brings. I may wear it this friday night, I’m going to see my alma maters musical. Or if I go out thursday, but we all know I’ll just end up taking it off. Will keep you posted. Maybe. I’m pretty sure my track record for keeping you posted when I say that is pretty shocking awful.
*********************************************************************************************
Browsing through a few shops today, Temt, Sportsgirl, a few shoe shops, I find myself to be intrigued by the ‘trends’ I’m seeing. While having surprisingly few strongly negative reactions to any, I’m wholly uninspired. The western shirts seem to already be on their way out, purely due to over-exposure I’m sure so thats over. I did see some grossly embellished boots which made me want to throw up a little in my mouth but even Temt, disposable fashions head quarters, had a surprising number of OK items. Not stuff I’d shell out the big bucks for, but not stuff that you’ll wear twice and then forget about. Quite bizarre. The white jacket shown above is an excellent example. It’s a simple white blazer that will last several seasons… though it’ll probably wear out before I’m sick of it but at the sweet price of $19.95 thats a price I’m willing to pay for less-than-great quality couture. Literally. Ha.
So some shopping tips for yall, if your looking for some comfy cheap knits and tights head on over to Temt. Looking for somewhat overpriced [when you're a starving uni student] but nicer more individual stuff, check out Sportsgirl.
Nice to meet you anyway, thanks to the 4 people who visited on saturday!
