I could’ve dragged this out.

But I didn’t so here is one massive post made up of lots of little tid bits from my day.

********************************************************************************************

Wish and you shall receive! There are several cd’s I want at the moment but how excited was I when my mum brought home one of them today*.

Summer at Eureka is Pete Murray’s new one and so far I love You Pick Me Up [single], Chance To Say Goodbye [track 1] and Happy Ground [11 - last].
Funny that I like the first and the last. Good track arranging Pete ol’ boy. Good times are afoot people. update: I also like 6; Sugar.

I included this cause I couldn’t find one of the album
and I couldn’t be bothered taking my own.

That, and its just a cool photo.

*******************************************************************************************

OH and I FOUND MY CAMERA. How exciting. Funnily enough taking pics for this wee blog is not its only use so I am quite ecstatic to have found it. Excellent timing though cause I’m now on swot vac and thus am only leaving the house for work or short unplanned outings. Thus outfit posting will probably be minimal. But you weren’t expecting anything better were you. Today, for example I left the house in my year 12 rugby jumper from school. I know, I was shocked too.
*******************************************************************************************
Currently in the process of painting my nails a sad thing has caught my attention. My favourite nail polish is almost dead. It is a sad day. I think this is the second nail polish I’ve ever actually finished in my life. Its only about 4 months old!. Maybe 5. But still. You know why, its cause its recently become my sisters favourite nail polish too. RUDE. Maybe she should buy the next one. Or if I get a darker one she won’t wear it. I want a darker one anyway really. Yay, problem solved. Not that I can afford ANYTHING these days but OH WELL I’ll just put it on the to get list thats not getting any shorter any time soon.
*******************************************************************************************
Today I…
* knitted till my wrist hurt! Old injury, new aggravation. Damnit!
* did a surprising amount of chemistry revision. I’m the worlds worst studier did I mention? I impressed myself today :).
* made more button rings, my sister got more rings yay, I’ll take pics on my newly found camera soon, my nails are half done atm would NOT be cute.
*******************************************************************************************

RIP YSL @ 71 :(

11:10pm

And I’m considering bed. Did I mention I got up at 11:50am today? Yeah. Almost 12 hours sleep. The night before was 15 or so hours. I’m almost sure theres something wrong with me.

I’m currently participating in one of the most painful and drawn out msn conversations EVER. It’s my own fault, I started it, but she’s was in the same group at school and she’s at my uni so I see her occasionally and eugh. Why must it be so HARD. So I know the people your friends with at school aren’t gonna be your friends for life usually but its so strained! Just cause she’s not my best friend doesn’t mean it needs to be this difficult. She never was my best friend either so it really shouldn’t be awkward or anything.

I’ve noticed that I’m struggling to keep up with my best friends from school though, one moved away to uni which explains a lot but we’re going skiing together soon and all will be well. The other one though, whenever I see her fleetingly these days it seems to consist of me looking at her incredulously as she describes some situation with her *insert important person here*. Whether its friends, boyfriend, family member, whatever, she still deals with things the same as she did a year or two ago. The girls almost 19 you’d think she’d have grown up a bit by now but apparently not. It becomes increasingly hard to give her a pep talk about how she shouldn’t make things bigger than they are when I’ve given her the same talk hundreds of times and its yet to make the blind bit of difference!

Ok so now that you’ve learnt more than you ever needed to know about my best friend and I…

american boy - estelle ft. kanye west

“I’m just an ass, in the crack, of humanity.”

Spicy yellow duck curry with rice in a roti wrap, followed by bread and butter pudding with raspberries, made with coconut bread. What more could you want for dinner? Ask my stomach and it’ll tell you, not much. Really, I don’t think anything else would fit.

God that made me sound fat.
******************************************************************************************
GUESS WHAT! Today, I really liked my outfit, and I mean A LOT. Which is something of a novelty these days. But did I take a piccy for yall? Nope. I think the moral of the story is, if I don’t do so before I leave the house, it’s just never going to happen. Today involved a thrifted cream skirt I just rediscovered, it has pockets(!!!) teamed with black and navy and wow, I’m getting excited just thinking about it. It was so good, I may recreate it in the near future and I PROMISE* I’ll document it for you if I do.

songs for sunday
Pick Me Up - Pete Murray [new single finally, there's an album to match!]
Ride Bikes With You - The Moldy Peaches [title is quote from this song. love it.]
The Doldrums - Josh Pyke [still not over it]
Rilo Kiley - Silver Lining
Heal Me - Lior
* ‘PROMISE’ is far more concrete than ‘promise’ seems to be I PROMISE

Ponder…

I’m about to get philosophical on your ass.

Na just kidding. Last night I told my friend to get primordial on that sharks ass, cause his name had kill sharks in it. Then he tried to convince me primordial was spelt primorial. He said haha, no d, you don’t mix it with water to make a sweet drink. Which was a sweet call. But he was wrong. Which I thought was pretty funny. Thought I’d share that with you all.

You know I think the power of hot chocolate is underrated. I just had one and before I drank it I had a headache and I was stressing about this Biology Independent Learning Task that was due like, this morning. I was flustered and feeling rather flat in general. I now feel quite zen. I think this is also thanks to my current soundtrack, Josh Pyke, save your chicken soup for lunch I say. Go with Josh Pyke.
I have a great track record for listening to music despite, not because of, the message. Like a lot of Josh Pyke’s stuff is about love or the search for it [what music isn't] and that’s just not a major theme in my life. I do recall after my last break up going a bit crazy over Lily Allen’s Smile which is a little vindictive of me but trust me when I say, well deserved on his part. So I’m clearly effected more by the music than by the lyric. But thats weird because I’m kind of a singer so you’d think I’d concentrate on the lyric above the music. Something to ponder. Maybe I just found a topic for my Music Psychology essay, I’ll ask my lecturer tomorrow shall I.
So now that random rant seems to have ended, I shall once again love you and leave you. Nice to meet you anyway.

songs for… monday?

Close enough is good enough people. Yesterday was a blur of nothingness, including the So You Think You Can Dance Australia final in which Jack won [YAY!] and Rhys wore a black blazer covered entirely in sequins!!! Can you say wow?! I can. Wow.

Moving to New York - The Wombats
Love Song - Sara Bareilles [two weeks in a row ooo yeah, I just love to sing along to it]
Four Minutes - Madonna, JT and Timbaland [been into this for a little while but still deserves a mention]
Prescilla - Bat for Lashes
What If - Cog
********************************************************************************************
You may or may not remember a post from a while ago about a white blazer I found and fell in love with but didn’t buy due to sheer impracticality. Guess What!!! I was in that shop today, Temt, and there it was, on the last chance rack. One left. Odds it would be in my size? Pretty much Zero. Guess What!!! It was my size. SO despite my extreme poverty I bought it didn’t I. I’m waiting for my sister to come home and berate me as to its ridiculousness. And then ask if she can borrow it. Haha. Super excited. I even just finished reinforcing the buttons, something I always say I’ll do but never actually end up doing.
In this photo:
white blazer from Temt
white tee from sportsgirl
purple tank by country road
scarf by just jeans
vintage belt
jeans from seduce
Was a bit challenging getting the lighting to work cause there’s clearly a large window not far away but I didn’t want to use artificial light and so heres what your getting. I’m in love with this jacket and the possibilities it brings. I may wear it this friday night, I’m going to see my alma maters musical. Or if I go out thursday, but we all know I’ll just end up taking it off. Will keep you posted. Maybe. I’m pretty sure my track record for keeping you posted when I say that is pretty shocking awful.
*********************************************************************************************
Browsing through a few shops today, Temt, Sportsgirl, a few shoe shops, I find myself to be intrigued by the ‘trends’ I’m seeing. While having surprisingly few strongly negative reactions to any, I’m wholly uninspired. The western shirts seem to already be on their way out, purely due to over-exposure I’m sure so thats over. I did see some grossly embellished boots which made me want to throw up a little in my mouth but even Temt, disposable fashions head quarters, had a surprising number of OK items. Not stuff I’d shell out the big bucks for, but not stuff that you’ll wear twice and then forget about. Quite bizarre. The white jacket shown above is an excellent example. It’s a simple white blazer that will last several seasons… though it’ll probably wear out before I’m sick of it but at the sweet price of $19.95 thats a price I’m willing to pay for less-than-great quality couture. Literally. Ha.
So some shopping tips for yall, if your looking for some comfy cheap knits and tights head on over to Temt. Looking for somewhat overpriced [when you're a starving uni student] but nicer more individual stuff, check out Sportsgirl.
Nice to meet you anyway, thanks to the 4 people who visited on saturday!

goodbye weekend

hello study.

heres what I wore on…thursday. I’ve been away for the weekend hence no posting and no fashionably interesting things happened, I was at my friends holiday house and we went to an 18th of a country friend so it was super casual, wore jeans and that awesome white and pink levi’s hoodie. Also was freaking freezing incidentally. The weather has been sufficiently cold for me of late, thank god I was sooo over summer.

In this pic;
black tank from dimmys
black jeans by Cheap Monday
brown boots from Laurent
white n black striped cardi by Don’t Ask Amanda from General Pants Co.
bangles by diva [gold] the accessory company [brown] and random local stall [wood]

These are two of my most often worn necklaces, the scabble piece is from Etsy seller Groglmann or similar [sorry  forgotten the exact name]. The other was  an 18th gift [clearly] from one of my best  friends, temporary chain, I’ll find a better  one at some point.

note: this top is really ODD, the right hand side kept falling down. I can’t recall regretting wearing a white bra more that I did this day. It was an extremely cheap top though. Thought I’d add this in just in case you were interested…

songs for sunday.

Sweet About Me - Gabriella Cilmi

Pumpkin Soup - Kate Nash
A-Punk - Vampire Weekend
New Soul - Yael Naim [pop culture reference: macbook air tv ad]
Prescilla - Bat for Lashes
Whistle For The Choir - The Fratellis
Little Boxes - Malvina Reynolds [pop culture reference: Weeds theme]
Don’t Fight It - The Panics
******************************************************
Outfit goal for the week: wear tights with a dress/skirt to uni and make it look effortless and casual enough.
Shopping goal for the week: My financial situation is finally allowing for the purchase of a new item for winter, either: a white zip up hoodie by Lee, it has pink lightning bolts and is like NOTHING I own. Or, this black leather jacket I’ve blogged about before. Having issues with my wardrobe being too monochromatic, my new favourite jeans being grey brings to light the amount of grey, specifically charcoal clothes I own. So thats a vote for the hoodie. But, I’ve wanted the jacket for ages. *sigh*. Tough choice, I’ll keep you updated though.

Peppermint & Bergamot…

…smell really pretty. Especially together. I’ve mixed together these two essential oils but I have an issue that its an Extremely Potent Combination. Especially the peppermint, has a cooling effect on the skin. My issue is that I don’t know how to dilute it! I can’t use water for obvious reasons and any other oil will have its own scent. Tis a small problem. Smells sooooo good though.

In other news, discovered another new blog today, Fashionologie has great little reviews of THE fashion shows, though I read the whole page in about 10 minutes so its fleeting entertainment.
Also, visit the also-newly-discovered-though-not-as-new Starbucks and Jane Austen tis quite the fun. Love her article of the Vogue Paris girls, they do fashion like no other. Probably why their the Vogue Paris girls isn’t it. Ya.

Download Cold War Kids. Now. Modern Indie rock, love it!

In a completely different genre, The Bird and The Bee. I love Again & Again, Fucking Boyfriend and I Hate Camera. I guess you would call it indie pop, iTunes labels it indie but I have a beyonce knowles song that says its classical. So I wouldn’t put too much faith in that. Not really sure. BUT its great.

My older sister got home from overseas today, she’s been gone for two months so yay, presents were lovely also :). She’s currently sleeping off the jet lag.

Well, thats all for now, I start uni tomorrow so I’ll try and post but I may be tired/dying/extremely busy, so I’m not promising anything. But then, who am I talking to? And, if there is someone reading this, I basically told you don’t expect new posts this week! Well, despite no doubt chasing away the [most likely non-existent] readers if this blog, twas nice to meet you anyway.

I heart Gotye.

Despite my general dislike for slogan tees, I would like an I heart Gotye one. For the uninformed among you, he is a musician unlike any other, whether you add him on myspace, visit www.gotye.com or just steal one of his songs,  YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. I’ve loved his music for awhile now, thanks to one of those random articles I read who knows where waiting for who knows what, along with Kate Miller-Heidke, and yay they were both performing at the Arias and my boy won Best Male Artist and accepted his award in socks. Bless him. Congrats to all the other artists who won, Aussie music is looking good at the moment is it not.
