On this hallowed day…

February 29th. Happens about as often as I post on this blog. Lol. Not quite but it has been awhile. I blame uni, o camp/o week shenanigans. They are also to blame for my severe lack of sleep and raw throat. Ouch.

However, I have very little to write about as I have made very few purchases recently [tears], and havn’t had the energy to rant. The saving is, surprisingly, going quite well :). However last night I managed to lose my favourite grey scarf and my trusty white cardi got ruined!! Much sadness abounds. However, excellent excuse to buy a new grey scarf. Low and behold, on my break today I went into the shop a few doors down and find a lovely knitted grey scarf, warmer than my old one but thats ok, a perfectly respectable $19.95. AUD ppl. View at your leasure:

note: I’ve been wearing it round the house cause it is COLD in Melbourne Town tonight!

In other news, new favourite blog, check it out: www.fashiontoast.com
Excellent!

My Parents: Party Animals

Don’t I know it.

But in other news. I completely exhausted, wrung out, rehydrated and then wrung out again, my list of blogs to visit today. It’s so ironic, one week I can’t keep up with all the new posts by the sweet geniuses, sometimes they simply don’t come often enough! So I visited my favourite blogs favourite lists. That doesn’t make sense. I used the links of the blogs I read, namely Fashion Verbatim, Faking Good Breeding and my new favourite [not just links-wise] Daddy Likey. Twas fun.

Aaaaaaand my blogging wind is gone because a couple of my good friends are fighting and I just got the other side of the story and now I’m bummed. Catch ya later peeps, sorry for the abrupt end.

NB: Re: the title of this blog, I’ve discovered something popular within the blogosphere is to give your posts a name completely unrelated to the contents, thought I’d try it. I did actually say this one today too, how real life. Ha.

The No-name blog.

nb: in all seriousness, the original of this post had no title. oops.

As I clicked on ‘new post’ on the home page of my blog.com account, colloquial name: dashboard, I was pondering the title of this blog. I then came to the very basic conclusion that the name of the blog will probably depend on what was in the blog in the first place. Revolutionary, I know. As I have gone through my daily blog trot I have come across several new years resolutions posts, a couple of “I’m on holidays” posts and one or two fashion of 2008 themed ones I decided to come here, to my own blog and create a post of my own. Not with any specific agenda in mind, just to post something. Now to fulfill that I could have just written the word ’something’ and left it at that, but wheres the entertainment value in that. Not for you though, the non existant reader of this blog, but for me, the girl who made this blog during some deep dark stage of my life when studying was my middle name and the computer was my saviour.

I’ve never been one for diary entries including a blow-by-blow account of my daily deeds, partially because, to be honest, my life isn’t really that interesting. This is possibly because, the last time I actually tried to write a diary blogs weren’t even around ie. it was ages ago and I was very young and thus had no life. Maybe I’ll turn this blog into a diary entry.

*Slaps head* what a royally stupid idea. I may be able to write one cause I did actually do stuff today but it wouldn’t be much fun for me, cause I already lived it, and no fun at all for you.

Maybe I’ll give you a few links to entertain you since I’m sure I’m inadequet:

iCing - I think, in fact, I know that I’ve linked this blog before but this is one of the first blogs I actually started reading on a regular basis. Though she does have a tendancy to be a little bit…can’t find the word…eg. she writes post on how to be charming and how to make a new years resolution which is a bit naff, but I often enjoy a read of her blogs which are updated on an almost daily basis. Bonus.

Fashion Verbatim - So witty, so concise, so entertaining, if only it lasted longer. Excellent.

WhoWhatWearDaily - The only bad thing about it is its so NOT daily, though maybe the time zones are playing tricks on me, it’s a bit of celebufashion fun.

Also, some recent finds: Fashionista, Fashion is Spinach, I am Fashion, Faking Good Bredding and Daddy Likey.

After all that hyperlinking, I’m over this post. As, I’m sure, are you. Nice to meet you anyway.

All-Natural Never-Fail Boredom Cure

Magazines!!!

Simple yet effective.

Whether its the ones that come with the paper on the weekend, or the monthlies read by thousands of fashionistas everywhere, I’ll devour it like its a hot chocolate dipped in coffee rolled in cocoa on a cold winter eve. A tried a true method for a fashion, celeb and human interest hit a magazine comes with all the entertainment of a book, but none of the committment AND all the fashion writing of an online blog but in 3D and deliciously portable.

I have a subscription to Shop Til You Drop, a present from a family friend which is a little slice of heaven delivered to my door every month. Shop is a good one for fashion fashion and more fashion, always something I want to buy and its so nice when you see something you already own in there too! My sister gets Cleo [from the same family friend!] and also Marie Claire. Cleo is more dense in articles than Shop which also has its place, and Marie Claire shows everything I could ever want and never afford. At least not yet :P [here's hoping]. Pretty much every month my sis and I inevitably will buy Cosmo [where Gala from iCiNG has a column!] and maybe Madison for more of that commercial hit. We occasionally get Vogue for some high fashion goodness and I really enjoy the more indie mags Nylon when I can find it and my fav bi monthly publication frankie which in my opinion also has the best website, bonus.

For me, sitting down with a good magazine is kind of like sitting down to the computer after a month of not visiting any of my favourite blogs and reading it all in one hit. Unadultered yumminess.

The Joy of Sunglasses

I love the simplicity of sunglasses, the functionality and the fun one can get out of a new pair. Slipping on a fab pair of sunnies re-invents any stale outfit [not that I have any of those...] like these vintage ones pictured. I personally have terrible luck with breaking sunglasses, a truly heartbreaking experience but I have a few pairs that I absolutely adore. For me, the bug eyed look is the best because I have a long face I can take the height, in fact, smaller ones make me look balloon headed. So the Nicole Richie and Rachel Zoe’s of the world did me a favour when they started wearing the massive sunnies, though unlike Nicole mine don’t dwarf my face. I’m just, like, totally that big headed. Haha.

So my advice is visit trusty www.ebay.com where you will have to sort through the b/s but there are some gems in there. I also discovered www.80spurple.com which has a good range of clothes as well as a kickass sunglasses section, not sure where they’re based, $13 for a pair of sunnies sounds a bit too sweet to me, beware of p&h. Spread the joy of sunglasses!

I Heart…

Smile cupcakes, the frosted ones

Smile angus and julia stone & the beautiful girls [theres more but I wouldn't want to bore you]
Smile the internet. These last few days have been englightening. I have realised the sheer unadultered pleasure to be derived from judging the clothing of others, though I really already knew that, through online blogs. The amount of entertainment is truly astounding
Smile my best friend debbie; our differences make us the perfect match because we can calm each other down because we’re never pissed or upset at the same things. We also have really different taste in men, excellent!
Smile smiley faces
Smile new music; the thrill from discovering a new artist is unlike any other
Smile rain; I’m not weird, the drought in Australia has been going on for a decade but it’s been raining for about the last 24 hours. yippee.
Smile mimco; seriously, so will you once you check it out @ www.mimco.com.au. Once again, I must lament my poorness.
Smile my sister; for always taking me shopping and for msging me after my english exam.
Smile my ipod; I’d be lost without it seriously
Smile photos: a moment is fleeting, but the memory will last a lifetime, especially with a visual aid ie. a photo.
Smile quotes: I found this awesome one about edie sedgewick, perhaps the first punk, it went into my little random scrapbook:
“Iconic society women had always been demure and elegant. Sedgewick was downtown not uptown, active not passive, sunglasses not ball gowns.  Her look was a mixture of sweet and sour; an ajelis face distorted with bleached hair and disfiguring make-up.”
Smile the colour grey; I find it very emotive for some reason

I’ve left off the things you already know I heart [gotye, coffee etc] but this list is ever changing and ever growing, but sometimes its nice to reflect on the good things in life. Make your own list, it’ll make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Seriously, I might even do some study now, I feel very peaceful.

I heart Gotye.

Despite my general dislike for slogan tees, I would like an I heart Gotye one. For the uninformed among you, he is a musician unlike any other, whether you add him on myspace, visit www.gotye.com or just steal one of his songs,  YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. I’ve loved his music for awhile now, thanks to one of those random articles I read who knows where waiting for who knows what, along with Kate Miller-Heidke, and yay they were both performing at the Arias and my boy won Best Male Artist and accepted his award in socks. Bless him. Congrats to all the other artists who won, Aussie music is looking good at the moment is it not.

This is my last resort…

What do you do when your bored? For me, its usually go on the internet, go on the computer or read a magazine. Occasionally [and i mean OCCAISIONALLY] I’ll do some homework but thats a very rare mood and usually doesn’t last very long. BUT my point is, there are millions, maybe billions of websites out there, and so many of them are such crap I don’t know why people bother. Wait, why do I bother??

Oh, right, nothing better to do than spout random thoughts into cyberspace. I think I just like the concept of people from anywhere into anything completely different or similar to myself can read this blog and know a little bit about a complete stranger. But I thought I’d chuck a few links out there for thems that wants [at last count, that was nobody].

www.thecoolhunter.com - Fun stuff. Everything from architecture to art to furniture to fashion. I virtual mine of interesting things.

www.facebook.com - Sad I know but I’m only really in it for the games. Jetman is addictive plus the old faves of Tetris and Pacman. Plus you can compare your score to other people which is what modern life is all about isn’t it?

www.galadarling.com - She’s cute in a kitsch kinda way, though it’s very possible I’d hate her if I met her, she knows how to write a blog.

www.missyconfidential.com.au - Wouldn’t want to miss out on the sale of the year would you? Didn’t think so.

www.ebay.com.au - Oldie but a goodie.

www.Eonlline.com - I like the fashion police part myself, some witty comments about some heinous outfits.

www.miijo.com - some cool stuff, some painful trends, but I enjoy a browse here and there. Also, once you’ve had a look round the jewellery, go into equip, the similarities are hilarious. Though the prices, not so similar.

www.google.com.au - When all else fails, google yourself.

I read some thing earlier about how a good website should say ‘look at me’ it should say ‘I’m what you were looking for.’ Personally when I’m online I’m rarely looking for anything in particular, unless it’s for school but entertainment can always be found in mysterious places.

At some point I’m going to post something about bathers, but putting photos on here is a drag so I need more time than I have this evening. I’m off to bed, working tomorrow *sigh*.
