I Heart…

Smile cupcakes, the frosted ones

Smile angus and julia stone & the beautiful girls [theres more but I wouldn't want to bore you]
Smile the internet. These last few days have been englightening. I have realised the sheer unadultered pleasure to be derived from judging the clothing of others, though I really already knew that, through online blogs. The amount of entertainment is truly astounding
Smile my best friend debbie; our differences make us the perfect match because we can calm each other down because we’re never pissed or upset at the same things. We also have really different taste in men, excellent!
Smile smiley faces
Smile new music; the thrill from discovering a new artist is unlike any other
Smile rain; I’m not weird, the drought in Australia has been going on for a decade but it’s been raining for about the last 24 hours. yippee.
Smile mimco; seriously, so will you once you check it out @ www.mimco.com.au. Once again, I must lament my poorness.
Smile my sister; for always taking me shopping and for msging me after my english exam.
Smile my ipod; I’d be lost without it seriously
Smile photos: a moment is fleeting, but the memory will last a lifetime, especially with a visual aid ie. a photo.
Smile quotes: I found this awesome one about edie sedgewick, perhaps the first punk, it went into my little random scrapbook:
“Iconic society women had always been demure and elegant. Sedgewick was downtown not uptown, active not passive, sunglasses not ball gowns.  Her look was a mixture of sweet and sour; an ajelis face distorted with bleached hair and disfiguring make-up.”
Smile the colour grey; I find it very emotive for some reason

I’ve left off the things you already know I heart [gotye, coffee etc] but this list is ever changing and ever growing, but sometimes its nice to reflect on the good things in life. Make your own list, it’ll make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Seriously, I might even do some study now, I feel very peaceful.

coffee coffee coffee

Officially addicted to caffeine!!! Today, I had a lovely sleep till 12 midday which was only interrupted when a stupid private number called my phone and then didn’t say anything when I answered, very rude. But anyway, upon rising, I discovered a mother of a headache which was seriously challenging my ability to function as a normal human being. Thus, I did not make my normal morning coffee as I really couldn’t be bothered [must have been a really bad headache]. Then later on, to my surprise, where nurofen and polaramine [antihistamine, I get hayfever] failed, coffee triumphed and bye bye headache. In the end rather annoying because I didn’t have an excuse not to study anymore. But oh well, I’m sure I’ll find one, like writing this blog perhaps. You may [though probably not] have noticed that I’ve posted almost as much in the last few days as I have, well, ever, this being purely because I’ve been in the write mood and particularly keen to do anything BUT study for those pesky exams called VCE which are totally not important. I mean uni, pffft, who needs it. ciao.

ps: poll: not that anyone reads this s*** I write here but is saying [or typing] “ciao” as a farewell prententious given I’m not Italian, or acceptable given my amazing level of charisma and charm so no one cares?

I heart Gotye.

Despite my general dislike for slogan tees, I would like an I heart Gotye one. For the uninformed among you, he is a musician unlike any other, whether you add him on myspace, visit www.gotye.com or just steal one of his songs,  YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. I’ve loved his music for awhile now, thanks to one of those random articles I read who knows where waiting for who knows what, along with Kate Miller-Heidke, and yay they were both performing at the Arias and my boy won Best Male Artist and accepted his award in socks. Bless him. Congrats to all the other artists who won, Aussie music is looking good at the moment is it not.

FYI

So I don’t know if you all got the memo but silk scarves are back in a biiiiig way. Whether its guys wearing them as ties or girls getting in tough with their inner flight attendant, scarves are everywhere.

As someone who has been known to wear them as a belt, I’m currently lusting after the Easton Pearson belt buckle designed to be attached to a scarf. GENIUS. Unfortunately, I’m not rich enough, so a knot will have to suffice for me. My favourite scarf is a genuine 70s one I dug out of my mums wardrobe [the spread out one in the photo below], if you decide to try this out ask your mum for a nearby source, not to mention cheap. Op shops often have heaps though check the seams and beware of polyester! Not that its bad, just not as good as silk :).
I also enjoy wearing them in my hair, not as a headband because thats just sooo done…ignore that I’m just bitter because it doesn’t suit my face shape. But, I like it rapped around a bun. The prerequisites for this style: an extremely compressable scarf, I personally like square ones. Also a sizable but loose bun, not loosely tied but loosely…bunned if you get me. Then you fold the scarf into triangle and roll/fold it up loosely to tie it. The key to this is that it has to be messy and though it may take you a few ties to get it right, it shouldn’t look like it.
My sister has decided, rather brashly but thats my sister, that she is now a scarf collector, and considering shes only been wearing them for 6 months or a bit longer, her collection is admirable and partly pictured below. Not one to ruin her perfectly coiffed hair with a scarf, she wears them in the flight attendant style but usually with dresses etc [my point being she doesn't look anything like a flight attendant].

A potentially tricky trend thats certainly not for everyone, I find they bring a sophistication to an outfit, provided they look like they belong. Be warned, wearing a head scarf to cover your hair is really only possible with short hair, if you leave the lengths of your hair hanging down you will look like your from That 70’s Show. If you have slim wrists, tie one round your wrist [they do bulk up the arm, I have big hands and not small wrists so this doesnt really work for me], then send me a photo so I can live vicariously through you. However, the easiest way to do scarves is to tie one round the strap of your bag. A vibrant scarf on a tan bag, white with black, contrasting patterns, always looks chic and enables you to show off your fab scarves without any effort!

Mr Happy [and I have the toy to prove it]

I had my first exam today, not counting my french oral which was about a month ago. English, in which one must write so much ones hand hurts and force ones brain to function at a speed never again required by human kind. An exercise of futility in and of itself, but after all, without a good ENTER score I. AM. NOTHING. Or so the education system would have you believe, along with my parents [read: my mum]. I’m just glad I never have to think about the effect of rhetorical questions or the motivations of Thomas More ever again.

However, I have a Mr Happy toy and for that, I am grateful. It’s a signature toy thing so thats nice for the memories and all that rot. Fun stuff.

I was wondering, what with all this blog writing bizzo, I’ve discovered that there are countless blogs out there about blogging. As in, people giving other people advice on how to write blogs. I find this ironic, not sure about you. I visited galadarling.com just before and it amazes me, the amount of people who ask a complete stranger advice about anything, and I mean anything, when all she did was start writing a good blog! Which begs the question, all those successful blogs out there, what was on them before they were successful enough for people to ask the writer questions? Gala, for example, seems like a perfectly charming individual with a strong sense of self and a penchant for taking photos of herself [not that theres anything wrong with that]. However, I myself am an at least somewhat charming individual [or so I like to think] with a sense of self stronger than many my age and penchant for taking photos of myself, then deleting them. So why does she have a successful blog? Not that I’m complaining about the lack of success of this blog, because right from the beginning I never actually expected this to go anywhere. This discussion is purely philosophical and just cause I find it interesting and this is my slice of cyberspace, so if you don’t like it, go find one you do, or make your own there is plenty to go round. But it was nice to meet you anyway.
